Assessment / Recommendations |
|
Assessment / Recommendations services consist of administration of the Needs Survey, and a comprehensive verbal interview during the course of an extended individual session. The Assesor compiles information gleaned from the interview, survey, and any additional information provided by the referrent. All assessments include a THC drug screen. A wriiten report with appropriate recommendations is generated and will be forwarded to the referrent in a timely manner. The written report includes a list of three area agencies that provide the recommended services. Reality Counseling staff persons do not refer clients directly into RCS services unless the client is urged to do so in advance of the assessment appointment by the referrent. The client is informed of the recommendations at the conclusion of the interview. Assessment / Recommendations sevices are offered at all of our locations. |

Prevention/Diversion (MIP) Group |
|
Prevention / Diversion (MIP) Group consists of six hours of AOD awareness counseling. Individuals appropriate for this service are typically youths with one or two MIP offenses. The group is held on Saturdays, and is completed in one visit. The focus of this process is acceptance of responsibility, examining the role of AOD in the clients life, and self-assessment. This also establishes a "counseling intervention" precident which is helpful in working through denial should the client re-offend at some point in the future . Prevention / Diversion (MIP) Group is offered at all of our locations. |

Four Session AOD Education Group |
|
Four Session AOD Education Group consists of four, two-hour sessions. Clients appropriate for this service are those who do not present as having a clear pattern of substance abuse or dependence, but would benefit from a process that is more intensive than a traditional Alcohol Highway Safety or Prevention / Diversion class. This series is primarily informational but also includes a self-assessment and examination of motivations for use. Four Session Education Group is offered at all of our locations. |

Eight Session AOD Intensive Education Group |
|
Eight Session AOD Intensive Education Group consists of eight, two-hour sessions. The content and facilitation of this group process is designed to confront denial, and provide clients with an oppurtunity to honestly examine thier history of alcohol and/or other drug use. This service is appropriate for those clients that display a pattern of substance abuse or dependence with alcohol as thier drug of choice. Typically, those with a high BAC, second offense DWI / OUIL, other alcohol related offenses, or multiple MIP charges fall into this catagory. While the sessions are didactic, the thrust of the proccess is experiential and active participation is required. This group series also serves as Phase I of our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Eight Session AOD Intensive Education Group is offered at all of our locations. |

Marijuana Specific Intensive Education Group |
|
Marijuana Specific Intensive Education Group consists of eight, or twelve one and a half hour sessions. Number of sessions is determined by the referrent based on projected need of the individual. Group content and facilitaion is designed to break through the unique thinking patterns and denial systems of individuals for whom marijuana is the drug of choice. Common myths are dispelled and the dangers of marijuana use are effectively exposed as clients begin to confront the ways in which they have modified thier values and beliefs to accomodate thier use. Because abstinence is crucial to maximizing the benefits of this service, a minimum of one random drug screen is administered during the course of these sessions in order to deter use. Marijuana Specific Intensive Education Group may also sustitute as Phase I group for the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP).

Substance Abuse Assaultive Behavior (SAAB) |
|
Substance Abuse Assaultive Behavior (SAAB) Group consists of twelve, two hour group sessions and an individual Exit Interview. Clients appropriate for this service are those with a history of substance abuse, as well as a tendency toward assaultive behaviors. This process incorporates elements of Anger Management counseling combined with Eight Session AOD Intensive Education Group. Acceptance of responsibility for behavior, thaughts and feelings is a core theme throughout this group process, and clients confront denial about thier substance abuse issues and begin to develop healthy strategies for managing anger. This series may also substitute as Phase I group for the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP).
